Course Description
Video captions increase the amount of time that users watch videos by 40%.
They assist viewers in quiet and noisy environments, where they have English as a second language and where they are deaf or hard of hearing.
This two-hour course teaches participants how create, edit and add captions to YouTube clips and web pages.
Course Outline
Part 1 - Introduction to Video Captions
- When and why people use closed captions
- Methods of captioning
- How to create captions using Movie Captioner
Part 2 - Practical Exercise
- Create, edit and publish captions for a short video

Web editors, administrators, programmers, academics, business owners and project managers.

Course Description
The University of Melbourne has over 1000 students and 1000 staff with a disability.
This 3 hour course examines the various ways people with disabilities use the University of Melbourne web site, the problems they face, and what we can do to help.
The latest standards and techniques for improving web accessibility will be discussed, together with tools that can be used to evaluate websites.
