Connected Vehicles Forum

In July 2016, CDMPS hosted an executive forum on communications from connected vehicles. This forum was sponsored by General Motors (GM) and attracted senior representatives from industry, Government and academia.

OnStar is a vehicle communications service that provides in-vehicle security, hands-free navigation and remote diagnostics systems. One area in which the platform excels is for emergency situations. For example, in the event of a vehicle crash the OnStar can determine the severity of the crash and the likelihood of passenger injury. The platform will then alert emergency services and direct them to the crash location.

OnStar is currently developing their product for Australia, however the platform needs excellent links with emergency services, data providers and communications companies. CDMPS was asked to help GM OnStar better understand the Australian market and the current technology in use, as well as to assist in developing the right relationships with Government, emergency services and industry.
