Atrium
The atrium is a key feature of the Institute complex, connecting the north and south towers of the David Penington building. It provides open spaces for events, a cafe and breakout areas on the various levels. The ground floor atrium area has strategically located 240-volt power points, plus two three-phase connections for event power needs. Use of the atrium space is to be discussed with the Institute Operations Officer.
Auditorium
The Bio21 Institute's Auditorium is located on the mezzanine level on the western side of the David Penington building, and accommodates up to 200 people. It includes a range of audio/visual facilities including: Mac, PC and laptop connection, DVD player, video player, video recorder, two projectors and screens and one document projector.
The Auditorium is available for use by Institute residents and can be booked by external parties, where approved (charges may apply). The Auditorium is not part of the University's theatre booking system. All booking requests for the auditorium are to be directed to the Institute Operations Officer.
Courtyard
The courtyard is also available for use by internal members. Special requests to book the space need to be discussed with the Institute Operations Officer. (charges may apply).
BBQ facilities
A BBQ and cooking utensils are available ‘ free for use’ to Institute members. The BBQ is located in the garden outside the Ruth Bishop building. To use the market umbrella over the BBQ area, please collect the crank from Security’s office. Two portable gazebos are also available for use. Bookings for the BBQ, cooking utensils and portable gazebos can be made by contacting the Institute Operations Officer or Reception.
Cafe
The Cafe is available for use by Institute members. Special requests to book the space need to be discussed with the Institute Operations Officer.
