CAIDE is delighted to be working with AVPN to offer bespoke ‘train the trainer’ workshops for not-for-profit enterprises in Australia and New Zealand on AI literacy, with a focus on responsible (fair and safe) generative AI.

This free half-day workshop introduces not-for-profit and civil society groups to the fundamentals of AI, generative AI, and frameworks for fair and safe AI.
AI for Teaching and Education - Resources
We have helped develop resources on AI for teachers and educators, arising from our collaboration with Cool.org and AVPN under the AVPN Project with AI Literacy Training from CAIDE. These resources and courses are evidence-based, aimed at helping teachers integrate AI safely and ethically, featuring lesson plans and professional learning filled with practical strategies and expert insights to enhance student learning outcomes, all mapped to the Australian Professional Teacher Standards (AITSL), and able to be logged as elective PD hours with your state's teaching regulatory authority.

The following options are subjects run by CAIDE at the University of Melbourne. These subjects can be taken either as part of an existing degree, such as an undergraduate degree or Masters program, or can be taken as a single subject study through the Community Access Program. This option is for those looking to take one subject for Professional Development or individual learning. The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence
Offered as part of the Master of Computer Science, this subject aims to provide students with the necessary tools to identify social and ethical issues of digital technology, and to reason about these issues.

AI, Ethics and the Law
This subject employs interdisciplinary perspectives to investigate AI, ethics, and the law. Developing sound ethical, policy and legal responses to AI requires expertise from technical fields such as maths, computer science and engineering, as well as the social sciences such as sociology, psychology, criminology, history, and philosophy.

Breadth Track
Designed to provide undergraduates with a capacious understanding of the technical, ethical and legal challenges arising from the design, governance and use of AI and Digital Technologies. Students taking this breadth track will graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure the fair, safe and altruistic use of AI and Digital Technologies.

CAIDE has hosted interns from various Faculties since its inception, through Faculty work integrated learning (WIL) subjects.
