CAIDE Summer Research Academy
The Centre for AI and Digital Ethics' Summer Research Academy February 2023
Expressions of Interest are now open for the CAIDE 2023 Summer Research Academy.
The Research Academy will provide a forum for participants to:
- Share and receive feedback on their research
- Participate in workshops exploring key issues around the social and ethical impacts of AI and other digital technologies through various disciplinary lenses
- Develop a shared understanding across disciplines and research skills and connections for future cross-disciplinary work
The Research Academy is scheduled to take place in-person at Melbourne Connect on 9 and 10 February 2023.
Information for Applicants
The CAIDE Summer Research Academy aims to foster a community of emerging, cross-disciplinary researchers at the University of Melbourne and across Australia.
The Academy is an opportunity for PhD students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs) who can:
- Explore pressing issues and concerns in AI and digital ethics​
- Develop their cross-disciplinary research skills
- Build connections with researchers in the field
Each session will include opportunities to meet other researchers in the field (including ECRs and senior academics) to discuss research and wider issues in your areas of interest.
Eligibility
Places are limited and selection will be by application.
Priority will be given to students from the University of Melbourne and new applicants, participants in the 2021 Academy are also welcome to apply and will be given places according to availability.
This academy is limited to those undertaking a PhD or working as an Early Career Researcher, therefore progress towards or a completed PhD is essential. Those who do not fit this criterion (including Masters students) are not eligible.

Fees
Participation is free for participants from CAIDE member faculties. The fee for other participants (non-member faculties from the University of Melbourne and other universities) is $75.
