Most asked questions

  • You can update your contact information such as postal address, email and phone number by logging into your UniMelb account. Select Update your details under the welcome message.

    If you need help setting up your account on the secure portal, you can access these instructions.

  • Academic Transcripts and other official University documents such as Evidence of Qualification, Evidence of Enrolment or a new Testamur may be ordered online.

    If you have ordered a transcript or another document and need to enquire about the status of your order, you will need to contact Stop 1. The Alumni Office is unable to provide information on the status of your order.

    If you require a proof of academic record which is not available for purchase via Academic Services you will need to contact Stop 1.

    Degree details of University of Melbourne alumni can also be verified instantly at the Verification of Qualification site.

    The Alumni Office is unable to provide any evidence of academic records.

  • Your UniMelb account will allow you to easily update your contact details, subscribe to the library eJournals and access other benefits available to the University of Melbourne alumni. If you don’t have an account, you can set one up here.

    If you need help setting up your account on the secure portal, you can access these instructions.

  • You can find your alumni ID in the header of a monthly alumni news email or any other event or news communications we have sent to you. If you are unable to locate your ID, please contact our office.

    Please contact Stop 1 with any enquiries regarding your student ID. The Alumni Office cannot provide this to you.

  • As an alum, you can access a discounted eJournal subscription for $25 annually via your UniMelb account. If you have any questions about the content of the electronic journals, contact library-agreements@unimelb.edu.au or find further information online.

    The alumni eJournals service doesn’t include all the electronic resources available via the University Library. Most of the library’s subscriptions are licensed for use by the University’s current staff and students, and on-site library access.

    The databases included in the alumni eJournals service have been separately licensed for use by the University’s alumni.

    Alumni are also eligible for a discounted library membership which entitles you to borrow physical books from any of the University of Melbourne libraries. Find out more about library services for alumni online.

Alumni community membership

  • You do not have to apply to be part of the University of Melbourne alumni community. Membership is free and extended to all those who have:

    • a University of Melbourne accredited, Award-level* course, including Professional and Specialist Certificates of 25 points or more
    • been awarded an honorary degree
    • completed at least one year of full-time study at the University
    • in the case of international students, have completed a semester-length study abroad program at the University.


    *Award courses are those that lead to a formal award of the University as determined by the Academic Board. These award courses require the obtainment of a minimum of 25 points.

    If you obtained a Professional or Specialist Certificate prior to 2018, you may not have been automatically included in the community. As you are now eligible, we invite you to sign up so that you can start enjoying the benefits that come with being part of the Melbourne alumni community.

  • No, there is no membership fee.

  • Our alumni community receives exclusive access to a range of benefits.   • We work with Melbourne Careers to help new graduates get their career started. For one year after graduation you can use the full range of services, including the drop-in service and the jobs database.

    As you progress through your career, you continue to have access to online resources, including videos and webinars, and can connect with members of your dynamic alumni community for advice and support. Check out what career support is available to you.

  • Your expansive, international alumni community has formed many valuable alumni groups around the world that offer regular opportunities for alumni to stay involved and active in the life of the University. Find out if there’s a group in your region.

IT assistance

  • If you have an existing UniMelb account and have forgotten your password you can reset it by clicking on the Forgot Password? option.

    For further assistance, access detailed instructions for the secure portal.

  • Please note that the University provides access to some systems for up to 12 months after you complete your course. After that, your access to University systems such as your student Gmail account will be deactivated. This includes any email forwarding arrangements set up on your University email account.

  • If you would like to unsubscribe from our email communications, please click the unsubscribe link found in the footer of all our email communications. This will allow you to unsubscribe from all emails or selected communications.

    If you would like to unsubscribe from postal mailings, please submit your request via our contact form.
