Now you know some of the fundamentals, we’ll delve into the tips and tricks for creativity and style.

Facilitated by Dave Withers, Senior Video Producer for the Video and Media team in Teaching and Learning Innovation.

Build upon your newly acquired basic editing skills learned in DIY video editing: Essentials. In this workshop we will discuss the philosophy of editing, using transitions, cleaning up audio and music, and general editing tips.

This workshop is for participants who are already proficient with  OpenShot  and want to enhance their videos beyond the basics.

  • An understanding of how/why editing decisions are made
  • Adding music
  • Controlling audio volume
  • Using transitions
  • Fixing unintended mistakes and troubleshooting

Content not covered

Specifics of individual editing software applications, other than the chosen software.

Recommended background knowledge

An understanding of OpenShot is assumed for this course. It is recommended that learners complete the Essentials workshop first.
