Learn the fundamentals of video editing, including post-production workflow and key tricks of the trade to improve your own video productions.

Facilitated by Dave Withers, Senior Video Producer for the Video and Media team in Teaching and Learning Innovation.

Video editing is considered by some to be a craft and editors can spend a lifetime in pursuit of a great cut. However, being able to embrace key tricks of the trade for your own video productions can be easily achieved. In this workshop, we will introduce the fundamentals of editing your video content, explore the post-production workflow and discuss how best to apply those rules.

We will be editing with University-approved software called OpenShot .

  • Specifics of individual editing software applications, other than the chosen platform.

Recommended background knowledge

This session will be geared towards first-time video editors that are keen to learn more about the process directly from an experienced post-production specialist.
