Students working together

Open Classrooms

Discover teaching in action across the University of Melbourne

The Open Classrooms Initiative gives you quick, self-guided access to LMS subjects showcasing diverse teaching practices. We’ve made it easy: explore the subjects below, hear from coordinators, and optionally engage in review activities.

Each exemplar subject includes:

  • A 2–3 minute introduction video from the subject coordinator.
  • A quick overview of teaching strategies used in the subject.
  • A direct self-enrol link to access the Canvas LMS site.
  • Optional guided activities if you want to reflect more deeply on the design of the subject.

Subjects are chosen for their alignment with the Framework for Educational Excellence (FEE) and include different teaching approaches, assessment models, and modes of delivery.

Subjects have been grouped against four key dimensions in the FEE.
