LIFEWAYS project: Translating suicide prevention research into policy and practice
Conducted by the University of Melbourne's Centre for Mental Health and key partners with a view to strengthen Australian suicide prevention research and the effective translation of research into policy and practice. A key focus is drawing on the perspectives of people with lived experience of suicide to make a real difference to suicide prevention.

EXCEL program
A novel online program integrating mental and physical healthcare for older adults with mental ill-health. The program is highly effective in helping middle and older-aged adults maintain or increase their physical activity levels, which has positive synergistic effects on mental health. This work has underpinned national guidelines for supporting older adults to maintain physical and mental health.

ALIVE National Centre for Mental Health Research Translation
The National Academy of Lived Experience (ALIVE) has been established to improve health outcomes for Australians with mental illness and reduce the individual, social and economic inequities associated with current care. The focus of the centre is implementing co-designed mental health interventions across the whole lifespan in primary care settings, First Nations and people living with severe mental illness.

Mindful
Mindful is the Victorian statewide unit responsible for the delivery of postgraduate courses, training programs, professional development and research programs in child and adolescent mental health. Mindful promotes effective community and clinical interventions through continuing education, professional support and advocacy.

A multi award-winning clinical service and research translation program co-designed with young people with lived experience, clinicians, primary health networks and relevant Victorian agencies over 13 years.

Digital Mental Health Care – Legal and Policy Challenges
‘Digital mental health care’ is advancing rapidly in Australia, outpacing legal regulation. This project – supported by the Mozilla Foundation - provides a fresh and clear understanding of the relevant medico-legal issues and develops a nuanced set of principles to guide legal frameworks for digital mental health technologies.
