Mental health and wellbeing
Advance the health challenges of a changing world
We are committed to transforming the world we live in and solving the major health and social challenges facing our world today.
From discovery to translation, our research has real-world impact. From advancing our understanding of the mind, developing innovative and personalised interventions for neurological disorders to understanding the lived experience of people experiencing mental ill-health, we engage directly with community organisations and our partners to deliver innovative solutions and best practice models of care in mental health delivery.
The Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences is home to a network of interdisciplinary research hubs, centres and institutes including the Florey Department of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Phoenix Australia Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health and the Centre for Youth Mental Health in collaboration with Orygen. As part of the most concentrated health and biomedical ecosystems in the southern hemisphere, our reach extends to health services, commercial and community groups that deepen our understanding of Victoria’s mental health and wellbeing landscape.
Our evidence-based and community-focused approach to mental health is guided by our values of collaboration, teamwork, compassion, respect, integrity and accountability. Through our world-leading education, research, innovation and engagement, we are uniquely positioned to make a real difference to the mental health and wellbeing of our communities.
