About our animals

You may have noticed some new faces helping us share Cybersecurity awareness at the University. We know that over time people get used to seeing the same messaging and start to tune out. Which is why we've recruited some new faces to help us to shine a light on Cybersecurity awareness at the University.

We’ve introduced a flock (and a mob, and a parliament) of Australian animals for our core messaging and a few of their non-native friends for special events. Expect Boobook owls asking you “who, who, whooo sent that email?”, and kookaburras reminding you that keeping your devices updated is no laughing matter – just to name a few.

But don’t worry, you’ll still see our staff and students, after all cybersecurity does start with you! The animals are just here for support.

You’ll soon see new posters and digital screens around campus, as well as video call backgrounds for staff. We even introduced animal stickers during Orientation week to get students involved. Keep an eye out as our animal friends start popping up more!
