Sydney Alumni Association
About
Established in 1985, the Sydney Alumni Association serves one of the University of Melbourne’s largest alumni communities outside of Melbourne. The group is committed to being an enabler of peer support for the alumni community in Sydney. Through their annual program of events, they aim to provide alumni across NSW with opportunities to connect socially and for professional networking and development purposes.

Association events
Executive Committee
Henry Herkes, President
Henry graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in 2017. His thesis studied utilities regulation in Australia and he co-authored a paper with Professor Kevin Davis on the failure of Quintis Ltd (ASX: QIN). Henry is an associate portfolio manager at Dimensional Fund Advisors, a large global fund manager. He became involved with the association following his move to Sydney in 2018.
Vivian Zhou, Vice President (Strategy)
Vivian is the founder of Journey Beyond the South, an organization dedicated to empowering business students and professionals to build their careers and lives across both hemispheres. Her firm, both directly and through partnerships, provides holistic support, including language training, overseas education applications, career consulting, immigration planning and property settlement services.
Merric Foley, Vice-President (Operations)
Merric undertook a Master of Public and International Law at Melbourne University and first became active in the University's alumni program in 2022. He is a policy professional currently working in sustainable finance policy at the Australian Banking Association. Merric is passionate about building an informed and inclusive community for University alumni living in Sydney.
Aditya Chibber, Treasurer
Aditya graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in 2008. He has a career in investment banking and capital markets in global banks and advisory firms and is also a chartered accountant. Aditya has been actively involved with the University’s alumni program having been vice-chair of the Faculty of Business and Economics Alumni Council and chair of the Young Alumni Committee.
Winnifred Mok, Secretary
Winnie is a strategy professional with experience across retail, big data and financial services. A Sydneysider since 2016, Winnie has been actively involved with the committee since 2018 after experiencing the value of the alumni network firsthand. Outside of professional life, Winnie has a keen interest in equine sports, from horseracing to polo and showjumps.
