Nick Kluckow (he/him)
Master of Mechatronics Engineering
Nick is studying a Master of Mechatronics Engineering and wants to use engineering to create real social change. He saw it happen when he built a metal-detector holder that let a stroke survivor in a wheelchair take up his hobby again.
Nick co-leads the offshore wind team at Students in Renewable Energy. He helped design and build a subscale floating wind turbine that qualified for the Floating Wind Challenge in France. His bigger interest is Australia's slow uptake of renewables, which he sees as a policy problem as much as an engineering one.
Through Wattle, he wants to build the science communication skills to explain those ideas clearly and invite honest discussion.
When he isn't engineering, Nick plays the bagpipes, reads and travels. His love of sustainability grows from time outdoors, from camping to rogaining.
