Maya Farmer (she/her)

Maya is studying a Bachelor of Science, majoring in psychology. She grew up in regional New South Wales, where climate change hit close to home. During the Black Summer bushfires, she packed a bag in preparation for evacuation. Later, she watched floods hit Northern NSW. She can't imagine a future where she isn't advocating for climate justice.

Maya is a member of Generation Justice, which lodged a complaint with the UN Special Rapporteur on Climate Change over government inaction. She ran a Local Conference of Youth in her hometown and volunteers with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition and ActionAid Australia.

Maya's other passion is women's health. As a Wattle Fellow, she is bringing the two together in an action project on women's health and climate.

Off duty, she might be hiking, surfing, baking or lost in a book, depending on her mood and the weather.
