Hannah Vrijenhoek (she/they)
Master of Theatre (Directing)
Hannah is a theatre maker and educator working where art meets ecology. She grew up in the Netherlands and trained in theatre and education. After moving to Naarm, Melbourne, she joined the deep ecology movement and took up permaculture in the Yarra Valley.
She makes embodied, interactive theatre that connects people with each other and the non-human world. She enjoys working with young audiences, from babies to children around ten. Her interactive show Land of the Lost, a response to climate change for children under six, was nominated for Best in Kids at the Melbourne Fringe.
Hannah is now studying a Master of Theatre Directing at the Victorian College of the Arts. In the Fellowship, she wants to sharpen her ecological art practice and how she brings people into kinship with the living world.
She is also passionate about making her own sweet drinks from fruits and flowers in season, with past experiments ranging from mulberry-rose cordial to a wild honey wine.
