Fatima Zahra Bassim (she/her)
Master of Development Studies
Fatima Zahra is an Australia Awards scholar and is proudly Amazigh, from Morocco. Now studying a Master of Development Studies, she focuses on gender and how complex development systems shape the everyday lives of women and young people.
Her work for women's empowerment earned her a gender and intersectional justice award, named in honour of the activist Lina Ben Mhenni. She has also published a paper with the Arab-European Association for Media and Communication Researchers.
As a Wattle Fellow, Fatima Zahra wants to turn that conviction into practical community leadership. She plans to work with peers and local communities on solutions that build resilience and outlast the Fellowship.
Beyond her studies, she loves seeking out the best local food the city has to offer.
