Eija Aeonn (she/her)

Eija is an emergency registered nurse completing a Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing. Before nursing, she was a conservation activist and led a dolphin defence campaign for Sea Shepherd Global. That commitment to the natural world still shapes her work on the ward.

In the emergency department, she sees how often people arrive because care was out of reach earlier, through cost or a system that failed them. To her, health and climate are the same problem seen from two angles. She wants healthcare to be far more sustainable, from cutting single-use waste to putting plant-based meals at the heart of hospital menus.

Eija joined the Wattle Fellowship to bring her environmentalism and nursing into one practice. She wants to help communities stay well as the climate shifts.

Outside work, Eija is an unapologetic nerd and a lifelong animal lover.
