Alex Langley (he/him)
Doctor of Medicine
Alex is in his third year of a Doctor of Medicine. On clinical placement at Western Health, he saw how much healthcare adds to climate change through landfill, emissions and energy use. That experience turned him towards healthcare sustainability and planetary health.
His final-year research project tackles sustainability in the operating theatre. He chose it after seeing how much single-use waste one routine procedure creates. For Alex, the link runs both ways: to improve human health, healthcare must shrink its own footprint.
As a Wattle Fellow, Alex wants to build a career that changes everyday clinical practice for the better, for patients and for the planet.
Outside his studies, Alex plays bass guitar and is always up for a jam. He snowboards whenever the weather allows and loves time with his two cats.
