Samantha Eala (she/her)
Master of Public Health
Samantha, a Filipina development practitioner, is pursuing a Master of Public Health at the University of Melbourne and an MBA at the Asian Institute of Management. With a Development Studies degree from Ateneo de Manila University and a U.S. State Department YSEALI Fellowship under her belt, she brings a wealth of diverse knowledge to her work.
Currently working at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, Samantha has collaborated with organisations like USAID, WHO, and Save the Children. She founded Seedibles, a social enterprise promoting sustainable food practices, which gained recognition from prestigious foundations.
Samantha's recent work focuses on climate change impacts on Filipino women and girls, developing a climate risk assessment tool that considers age- and sex-specific factors. Through Wattle, she aims to further explore these issues and advocate for equitable climate and sustainability approaches.
As a Junior Research Fellow at the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health, Samantha continues to contribute to academic research. In her leisure time, she enjoys travelling, painting, and never turns down a karaoke session.
