Josephine Boateng (she/her)

Josephine is a PhD student in Geography at the University of Melbourne undertaking research concentrating on ESG, Adaptation Policies, and Women's Reproductive Health. She is devoted to researching geographic phenomena and the socio-environmental effects the former may have on the latter.

She is always on the lookout for creative ways to make our planet greener and liveable for future generations. From reusing plastics to promoting greener choices, she believes that small, everyday actions can lead to significant changes.

At the age of 22, Josephine moved with no Japanese language skills from Ghana to Tokyo, where she lived for 4 years and studied Master of Science in Sustainability, United Nations University. More recently, Josephine volunteered as a qualitative research for a three-month non-profit project with the Women of Colour – Australia in early 2024.

When she’s not buried in textbooks, you can find Josephine outdoors, exploring parks and old libraries. She also enjoys hiking every now and then.
