Improve your skills and confidence when presenting to camera online.

This workshop is for academics and professional staff eager to improve their skills in presenting to a virtual audience. It is facilitated by Sascha White, Senior Video Producer for the Video and Media team in Teaching and Learning Innovation.

Intended learning outcomes

  • How to prepare for your presentation, minimise nervousness, and improve confidence.
  • How to deliver scripted material naturally using vocal range and varied pace.
  • Identify camera techniques used for engaging viewers.
  • Practice avoiding visual distractions by minimising body movements and gestures.
  • Develop strategies to calmly recover from presentation errors and equipment malfunctions.

Content not covered

  • Presenting in a lecture theatre.
  • Presenting to a smart phone.

By the end of this workshop, you'll be equipped with the skills you need to deliver effective and engaging presentations to an online audience.

Recommended background knowledge: Some understanding of online presentation applications, e.g. Zoom.
