By embedding Indigenous cultures and knowledges in our learning and teaching, research and engagement initiatives, we promote an understanding of, and respect for, the traditions and perspectives of the many nations and language groups that make up Indigenous Australia. In this context, stories emerge which provide a glimpse of the achievements, discoveries and spirit that exist within our University community.
Dhoombak Goobgoowana Launched
A scholarly work examining the University of Melbourne’s troubled and complex historical relationship with Indigenous people — Dhoombak Goobgoowana: A History of Indigenous Australia and the University of Melbourne Volume 1: Truth — was launched during National Reconciliation Week.
Dhoombak Goobgoowana means “truth-telling’’ in the Woi Wurrung language of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, on whose unceded lands several University of Melbourne campuses are located.
