Students chase their dreams at Open Day
From augmented reality dance performances to interactive dentistry simulations, this year’s Open Day will give aspiring students a taste of the diverse career pathways on offer at the University of Melbourne.
The Parkville and Southbank campuses will come alive on Sunday, August 16, with more than 450 Open Day activities planned across the nine faculties.
Attendees will be able to explore the University’s plethora of study options, tour state-of-the-art labs, visit student accommodation and participate in hands-on creative workshops.
This year’s program features several new experiences, including live demonstrations of the University's Global Portal, a technology-enabled environment that connects participants in real time with people in Portal locations around the world.
The University’s Campus Canteen will also be running a pop-up at the Info Hub, where students can learn about the affordable lunch program and sample the menu.
And the Lens of Discovery exhibition will feature striking photography captured by University researchers, students and staff, highlighting the people, places and discoveries that push the boundaries of knowledge.
University of Melbourne Interim Vice-Chancellor Professor Glyn Davis AC said: “Open Day is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn how they can turn their career dream into reality at the University of Melbourne.
“Lecturers, researchers and current students will be available on the day to answer any burning questions and provide first-hand insights into what life on campus looks like.”
