Students’ excellence recognised with Chancellor’s and Narrm Scholarships
The University of Melbourne today offered its prestigious Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarships and Narrm Scholarships to 1500 Year 12 students, opening pathways to world-class education and life-changing opportunities.
The longstanding Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship offers fee remissions and a guaranteed place in coveted graduate programs, including the Doctor of Medicine and Juris Doctor (Law), for high-achieving students who meet the prerequisite course and entry requirements.
Scholars also benefit from a generous annual allowance for the duration of their undergraduate studies and the offer of a Melbourne Global Scholars Award of up to $2500 to study overseas through an Exchange or Study Abroad program.
Of the 90 Chancellors Scholarships offered today, 10 have been offered to Indigenous applicants, while 1410 Narrm Scholarships have been offered to exceptional applicants from a range of backgrounds and circumstances.
Further scholarship offers for interstate and IB Diploma applicants will follow once their results are released.
Now in its third year, the Narrm Scholarship Program is offered to applicants who have traditionally faced barriers to tertiary study, providing financial and enrichment support throughout their time at university. This program is the cornerstone of the University’s commitment to providing opportunities to a broad range of students through access and equity.
University of Melbourne Interim Provost Professor Jane Gunn congratulated those eligible for the scholarships, who will be receiving their course offers through the forthcoming VTAC offer rounds.
“We congratulate these outstanding scholars on their achievement,” Professor Gunn said.
“These students have shown exceptional dedication and accomplishment. We look forward to welcoming those who choose to study at Melbourne to our vibrant student community”.
The Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship is offered to school-leaver applicants who have satisfied prerequisites (and any extra requirements) and achieved an ATAR or equivalent of 99.9 or above, Bachelor of Music applicants who achieved an ATAR or equivalent of 99.85 or above, and Indigenous students who gained an ATAR of 90.00 or above.
Narrm Scholars, who come from a variety of backgrounds and places across Australia, will be welcomed to campus through a pre-orientation camp in early 2026 as part of the Narrm Scholarship Enrichment program, which provides tailored academic, wellbeing, careers and employability support.
Narrm Scholars have become a vital part of the University community, contributing significantly through diverse employment and engagement opportunities.
“Our scholarships, especially the Narrm Scholarship Program, create transformative opportunities for talented students from all backgrounds the chance to pursue their academic passions and aspirations,” Professor Gunn said.
