University of Melbourne remains highest ranked Australian university by ARWU
The University of Melbourne is the highest ranked Australian university and 37 in the world according to the latest Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
The University of Melbourne remains the highest ranked Australian university in the three major ranking surveys – Times Higher Education, Quacquarelli Symonds and ARWU.
University of Melbourne Professor Duncan Maskell said the ARWU Rankings reflected the hard work of University staff.
“Many of the University’s researchers and graduate researchers are world leaders in their chosen fields. Together with the University’s affiliate partners, they are responsible for research that has a profound impact on the lives of people and societies around the world.
“I congratulate and thank our staff for continuing to pursue knowledge and discovery that strengthens the University of Melbourne’s reputation as one of the world’s finest universities.”
University of Melbourne Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Mark Cassidy said the rankings demonstrate that Australian universities are continually competing among the best in the world.
“ARWU recognises the leading research and exceptional education on offer at the University of Melbourne and our standing as the highest ranked Australian university, in the top 40 globally, is something our entire community should be very proud of,” he said.
