The University’s 2022 Annual Report has been tabled in the Victorian Parliament.

Today the University of Melbourne’s 2022 Annual Report was tabled in the Victorian Parliament. The Annual Report covers the period between 1 January and 31 December 2022.

The Annual Report includes the University’s record of achievement during 2022 and highlights the University’s impact on society, locally and globally, through its core teaching, learning and research endeavours.

Publication of the Annual Report follows the release of the University’s 2022 financial results in late March. The financial results showed an operating deficit of $104 million and a net deficit of $203 million, which was in line with previous forecasts.

University of Melbourne Vice-President of Administration and Finance and Chief Operating Officer Paul Axup said the 2022 financial results were not unexpected, as the effects of the pandemic including the cumulative impact of reduced student enrolments in previous years, continued to flow through.

“While we remain mindful of challenges, the University is on the path to financial stability and we have good reason to be optimistic about the future as we continue to invest in our core teaching, learning and research.

“The scale and breadth of initiatives and progress detailed in the 2022 Annual Report is testament to the efforts of all members of the University community in delivering on the ambitions of our Advancing Melbourne strategy,” Mr Axup said.
