Top VCE students awarded Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship
Victoria’s highest-achieving VCE students were today offered a Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship to study at the University of Melbourne, in recognition of their outstanding academic achievement in 2022.
The Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship offers a generous fee exemption to students, as well as a guaranteed place in the graduate program of their choice including the Doctor of Medicine, Juris Doctor (Law) and other professional entry graduate programs.
Congratulating the new scholars, University of Melbourne Provost Professor Nicola Phillips said the scholarship will enable students to engage with all aspects of student life at the University of Melbourne.
“It is a real pleasure to welcome these outstanding students to the University today and, together with their families, celebrate their extraordinary results, which have been a culmination of years of hard work,” Professor Phillips said.
Domestic Chancellor’s Scholars will receive a HECS-exempt Commonwealth Supported Place, as well as an annual allowance of $5000 for Victorian students, and $10,000 for interstate students, for the duration of their undergraduate degree.
All scholars will also receive a Melbourne Global Scholar’s Award of up to $2500 to support them to study overseas through an Exchange or Study Abroad program.
“The scholarship will enable these students to fully embrace the excitement and opportunities of study at the University of Melbourne, where they will engage with a broad suite of contemporary issues to meet the next generation of global challenges,” Professor Phillips said.
“Our students bring our campuses to life – and so it is a real pleasure to welcome another outstanding cohort of Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholars to be part our rich and diverse community next year.”
The Melbourne Chancellor’s Scholarship is offered to school-leaver applicants who have satisfied prerequisites (and any extra requirements) and achieved an ATAR or equivalent of 99.9 or above, Bachelor of Music applicants who achieved an ATAR or equivalent of 99.85 or above, and Indigenous students who gained an ATAR of 90.00 or above.
