Graduate Student, Centre for Brain, Mind and Markets

About Declan

After studying Medicine and Bioinformatics at the Université Côte d’Azur (France), Declan shifted to Business studies thanks to discovering the field of Behavioural Economics. He successfully completed his Master’s in Brand Marketing & Business Strategy at ISEG Institut Supérieur Européen de Gestion (France) and his MBA at Baruch College (NY, USA). Learning about Behavioural Economics was the starting point of his interests into how human decision-making takes place with deeper focus on the neuronal mechanisms at play, more specifically.
He has worked for industry-leading brands including Abercrombie & Fitch, Nespresso and Red Bull where he casually observed customers’ decisions and judgements; thus reinforcing his new-found passion.

With a desire to steer his career towards research, his MBA thesis concentrated on hormonal influence in business-related behaviour for both consumers and members of staff. Later, he completed his Master’s in Neuroscience at the Université de Bordeaux (France) before joining the Centre for Brain, Minds and Markets at the University of Melbourne in July 2022 as a graduate student in the Decision, Risk and Financial Sciences (DRFS) program.

Seeking to understand the neuronal mechanisms which guide our decisions, his research interests lie in neuroscience, neuroimaging, gambling tasks, food choices and neuroeconomics.
