Train the Trainer for Effective and Responsible AI Course
CAIDE is delighted to be working with AVPN to offer bespoke ‘train the trainer’ workshops for not-for-profit enterprises in Australia on AI literacy, with a focus on responsible (fair and safe) generative AI for effective enterprise use.
About the Course
CAIDE will provide comprehensive training based on a common curriculum tailored to the recipients and the Australian context, along with ongoing support for the train the trainers.
There are three courses:
- Each course consists of video, readings, individual and team exercises, face to face learning time and time for reflections on developing training materials
- The overall time commitment is 35 hours for Course 1 (including self-study) with 20 hours face to face time
- Courses 2 and 3 are elective and each take about 6 hours to complete with 3 hours contact time
Course 1: AI Fundamentals
1. Introduction to AI
Module 1 begins with a brief history of AI, the basics of how AI functions and an overview of common AI tools, and use cases, with a focus on generative AI. It provides an introduction to AI limitations and risks, as well as the principles of ethical AI and the importance of human oversight.
2. Introduction to choosing AI for your enterprise
Module 2 looks at selecting generative AI tools for an enterprise or activity, including exploring common use cases for improving productivity, evaluating the use of generative AI for specific tasks, understanding the role of human oversight and undertaking a risk assessment for deployment.
3. Introduction to prompt engineering for generative AI
Module 3 covers prompt engineering techniques for generative AI, including using generative AI effectively, creating clear prompts, analysing outputs and refining prompts, specific techniques and implementing guardrails for safe use.
4. Introduction to using AI responsibility
Module 4 introduces the principles of responsible AI, including the Australian AI Safety Standard and the Australian Privacy Principles. It involves identifying AI harms (individual, societal and existential) and understanding privacy risks, issues of equity and the bias inherent in LLMs. It considers the role of AI accountability across the entire AI lifecycle.
5. Stay ahead
Module 5 considers how to stay on top of developments in AI and related technologies, including developing approaches to responsible, safe and effective AI development and deployment. It covers strategies for staying knowledgeable, encouraging innovation and building an adaptive approach to AI accountability
Course 2: Generative AI Fundamentals
Course 2 provides a more detailed look at using generative AI for workplaces including development RAG models and developing an AI use policy.
Course 3: Responsible AI
Course 3 provides a more detailed understanding of responsible AI in the workplace or enterprise, including exploring case studies and governance models. It explores operationalising and implementing a responsible AI framework for the entire enterprise.
About the Fund
The AI Opportunity Fund: Asia-Pacific is an AI skilling initiative designed to equip workers, especially those who need more support to upskill themselves, with the foundational AI knowledge and tools needed for long-term positive professional outcomes.
AVPN, in collaboration with Google.org and Asian Development Bank (ADB), has provided funding to support workers across Asia Pacific who are most impacted by workforce transitions that are driven by AI. A diverse range of organisations including charitable nonprofits, public interest organisations, social enterprises, civic institutions, municipalities, labour unions, professional bodies and associations reaching these workers have been selected to participate.
