Assistance for donors
Advancement Office staff can be contacted via telephone on: (03) 8344 1751.
Advancement Office
The central Advancement Office is responsible for the management of programs relating to all University alumni and donors. It provides services to and works collaboratively with the faculties and other central administration areas.
Annual Reports
The Advancement Office produces an annual Impact of Giving report and Endowment Reports (summarising the financial status and recent performance details) on individual trusts for donors or their families.
Advancement staff in the faculties
Each faculty has appointed staff to manage relations with that faculty's alumni and donors. Advancement staff in the faculties organise activities that raise funds to support important faculty research and initiatives.
Types of assistance
Advancement staff assist donors who are contemplating making a gift to the University, including:
- in all cases helping donors identify the purpose of the proposed gift, taking into account the current needs and priorities of the University, and also taking into account the future plans of the University;
- in the case of a gift made during the donor's lifetime, preparing a document that records the purpose of the gift; and
- in the case of bequests, with the help of the Trusts Group assisting the donor and his or her solicitor with the suggested wording of a clause in the donor's Will to record the purpose of the bequest.
As mentioned in the Describing gifts section, it is essential that the donor describes the purpose of the gift or bequest in a way that ensures that the donor's wishes can always be implemented by the University, even if there are changes to the content or structure of a particular course, or if there are changes to the research priorities for the University.
