Trusts at the University

Introduction

The University of Melbourne is the trustee of approximately 800 trusts established by donors since the University was established in 1853. As the trustee of those trusts, the University administers donated assets and monies, together with the income arising from those donations, in the manner specified by donors.

These trusts provide income for a wide range of University purposes. The income from some of these trusts assists students in the form of bursaries, prizes, scholarships and fellowships; the income from other trusts supports research projects or finances professorial positions.

The University acknowledges with gratitude the generosity of its many benefactors.
