Partnering for Progress is the second report against the ambitious targets outlined in the Sustainability Plan 2030 (SP2030). This plan underpins the aspirations outlined in Advancing Melbourne, guiding sustainable delivery of our commitments across the five key pillars of Place, Community, Education, Discovery and Global.

Received two Green Gown awards for ‘Leading the Circular Economy’ and ‘Sustainability Institution of the Year’.

QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024

Ranked 9th globally in the Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings: Sustainability 2024, and 1st for environmental sustainability.

How we're tracking against our sustainability targets

The first SP2030 domain amplifies our impact through purposeful collaboration and cross-pollination across the University.

Emissions

The University’s gross greenhouse gas emissions increased to 241,128 tCO2-e, due to increases in scope 3 (or indirect) emissions. Scope 1 (direct) and scope 2 (electricity) emissions decreased.

Received a 5.5 star NABERS Award for 2022-23 for Data Centre energy efficiency and optimisation.

231 students earned the Melbourne Plus Sustainability Advocacy credential, an almost tenfold increase since 2022.
