Meriki Onus

Meriki Onus (Gunnai and Gunditjmara) is Co-Chair of the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria, Gellung Warl and a Member for the Metro region. Living on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country, they are committed to advancing self-determination, strengthening First Peoples' sovereignty and creating lasting transformation for all First Peoples living in Victoria.

Meriki's work is grounded in the belief that Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing hold vital solutions to the challenges facing our communities and institutions. Through their leadership in Victoria's Treaty process, they continue to champion truth-telling, justice and a future where First Peoples' rights, cultures and aspirations are recognised and respected.

Meriki sits on the board of Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Corporation, holds a Master's degree in Social Change Leadership from the University of Melbourne and is a Global Fellow of the Atlantic Institute.
