This page will provide you with FAQs and support options if you’re signing up or logging in to your “UniMelb Account”.
Password problems
How do I reset my password?
If you have forgotten your password or need to reset it for security reasons:
- Click "Forgot password?" on the "Log in" screen (underneath the "Continue" button)
- Enter your email address
- A reset link will be sent to your email
- Click on the Reset link
- Create a new password
- Click Update password
- Sign in using your email and updated password
My reset code doesn’t work?
Your reset code is only valid for 24 hours. If you haven’t reset your password within 24 hours you will need to reset your password again by following the steps above.
Profile and privacy
How do I edit my profile?
You can edit your profile by clicking this link to reach the ‘Edit Profile’ option. After you follow that link and log in, you will be taken to a "Manage your account" screen where you can:
- Update your "Profile information": change your name
- Update your "Account settings": change your contact details ( email, mobile number and password)
- Delete your identity account
What do you do with my personal information?

Problems logging in
I see an error message when I try to log in
If your email and password don't match what is registered in the system you won’t be able to log in. Click Forgot password? and we’ll send you a password reset link.
If you have tried to log in incorrectly 4 times you will be locked out of your account for 3 minutes. Once the 3 minutes have passed you can try to log in again with the correct email address and password.
The “Continue with your staff or student account” button, the “Google” button, or the “Facebook” button does not work
If these buttons are not working, please:
- try again using a private or incognito browsing window; or
- clear your browser cache, then try again
I’m still having trouble signing in?
If you’re still having problems signing in, verifying your UniMelb account, or experience an invalid mobile phone number error message you should contact the support centre.
