Unleash your fashionista with Moda9

Even though the University of Melbourne doesn’t have a fashion design course, we do have one of the most stylish cohorts in Melbourne! From high-end fashion brands, edgy street style that rivals an Off-White fashion show, through to classic vintage looks, our campus bustles with creative talent.

Our club Moda9 meets twice a month in person and has a wide range of online programs. Our aim is to help students develop an online fashion profile – whether that be through publishing your own written editorial content, helping you find a platform to display your fashion photography, assist with video editing, modelling, design, or if you have an interest in fashion but aren’t sure where to start - we're here to help. It could even be something as simple as wanting to start a TikTok account showing off your newest vintage shop haul. You bring the passion and we'll provide you with the tools.

Last year, we had the wonderful opportunity to attend Melbourne Fashion Week and the KAWS exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV). We've also interviewed several students about their fashion style and published a corresponding portfolio for them.

Some of our members are aspiring writers who pitch their ideas to us and build a portfolio by writing fashion editorial pieces, and others are aspiring photographers who assist us with fashion shoots for brand collaborations. We also have graphic designers working on our logo and passionate members showing their support by being there.

We welcome everyone. It doesn't matter if your favourite item of clothing is a pair of grey track pants or you only go clothes shopping once a year. We believe everyone has an inner fashionista the only problem is having the confidence to start! Once you do, you’ll realise how addictive the fashion world can be, and we’ll be there with you every step of the way.

With the ever-changing landscape of the fashion scene, we’d love to hear from you! If you have a great idea, a story pitch, a photoshoot idea, or just want to discuss the latest trend, we’re here to welcome you aboard. Hopefully we'll see you around, either in person or virtually. But until then, stay safe and stay fashionable!
