Biography

Sookyan is a Research Assistant at the Melbourne Centre for Cities, currently assisting with the Map of the Month Project. She is also involved in a number of applied research projects within the Women in Transport Leadership at Australasia Knowledge Network at the Melbourne School of Design. Sookyan also works as a Sessional Tutor at the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. She has an academic interest in the environmental and social determinants in health inequality, and is interested in exploring the nexus between housing, urban design and health outcomes using quantitative methods. Before moving to Melbourne, she has spent a number of years working in Sydney on architectural and urban design projects across a diverse range of typologies, including transit-oriented precincts, mixed-use developments, social and affordable housing, seniors living and student accommodation. Sookyan is registered with the NSW Architects Registration Board.
