Denise Ryan

Biography
Denise Ryan is a PhD researcher at the Melbourne Centre for Cities at the University of Melbourne investigating how owners corporations can retrofit their apartment buildings to improve liveability and sustainability. She is interested in the influence of our daily environment on wellbeing, exploring how nature connections can be increased in urban areas and how building innovations can be accessed by ordinary residential communities, including through circular economy approaches such as product stewardship.
Denise has an extensive background in senior national policy roles covering design, the arts, disability, welfare and social policy. She has a Master of Public Policy from the Australian National University, a Graduate Certificate in Design for Health and Wellbeing from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Modern Languages from the University of Canberra.
