About Sean
Sean Crockett applies experimental methods to investigate questions in general equilibrium theory, asset pricing, behavioural economics, and decision theory. His recent focus has been to characterise individual revealed preferences under conditions of uncertainty, and to explore how the distribution of those preferences impacts market outcomes. Recent contributions have included demonstrating how consumption smoothing impedes the formation asset price bubbles, how endowments impact financial preferences (both statically and dynamically), and how heterogeneity of individual risk preferences (even “strange” ones) tends to aggregate into stable market outcomes. Sean is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at Baruch College, City University of New York. He earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004, and joined the faculty at Baruch two years later following a postdoctoral fellowship at the California Institute of Technology.
