Algorithmic limitations framework for cross-disciplinary algorithm design

Aidan McLoughney, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology

The goal of this research is to develop a framework for identifying the inherent limitations of any automated decision-making process, by building on existing work from literature such that the identified limitations can be addressed early in the cross-discipline algorithm design process. This provides additional support to cross-discipline study when addressing the ethical, societal, and legal implications of the given automated decision-making system, which also carries through improving the support for addressing the contestability and accountability for the given automated decision-making system as well.
