Supporting your career through mentors

Are you looking for guidance to kick-start your career but not sure where to start?

Our panel of alumni share their experiences on how advice from mentors helped them to grow their skills, make better decisions, and gain new perspectives on their life and career.

Our panel provides tips on how to select and engage with a mentor and how they have approached different mentors for different purposes.

This event is part of Ask Alumni Live – a series of live-streamed career events developed specifically for our alumni community.

Hans Gao, Transport Engineer, Stantec
(BSci 2018, MEng 2020)

Hans has participated in the STEM Industry Mentoring Program on a number of occasions, and was also a student mentee in the Ask Alumni mentoring program. Hans was able to connect with industry professionals in his line of study, gain a deeper understanding of engineering careers, and receive guidance on navigating the transition from student to professional life.

Wilbur Li, Investment Strategist
(BCom (Hons) 2017)

Wilbur was a student mentee in the Access Connections and Business & Economics mentoring programs and has experience as both a student and alumni mentee, as well as being an alumni mentor in the Ask Alumni mentoring program. Mentoring allowed Wilbur to learn about career paths in financial markets and become a more thoughtful investor.
