Dr James L Allan
Council member - UoMA
I’ve been really struck by the energy of the Melbourne alumni I’ve met in my time here. There’s a remarkable pride in the University and a strong sense of community. It’s our job on the Alumni Council to help foster this community and to ensure that our current students can benefit from the experiences of those who’ve gone before them.
In his role as the Director of Alumni and Stakeholder Relations at the University of Melbourne, James Allan is responsible for setting strategy and direction for the University’s various alumni relations programs and activities.
Holding a PhD in Communications from the University of Massachusetts Amherst along with degrees from University of Toronto and McGill University in Montreal, James taught at a number of universities before made the shift from academia into administration.
He spent more than 10 years in Alumni Relations at York University in Toronto before joining the team at the University of Melbourne.
