Christina Yiannakis is an established diplomat and an expert in gender and communications. Working for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), Christina is currently a Policy Officer contributing to the Department’s Women in Leadership Strategy from Geneva, Switzerland. Prior to this role, Christina was Australia’s Second Secretary and Consul at the Australian Embassy in Peru. She has experience working in numerous other areas across DFAT, including the People Smuggling and Human Trafficking Task Force and in Port Moresby at Australia’s High Commission to Papua New Guinea. Prior to joining DFAT in 2016, Christina worked for UN Women in Timor-Leste as their Gender and Advocacy Officer. Christina is proficient in Spanish and Greek.

Christina will use her position on the Alumni Council to promote and develop activities, events and support networks that are accessible to all alumni, including those unable to physically attend the University campus.
