The University has more than 2500 students and 900 staff with a disability. This 2 hour intermediate course examines the various ways people with disabilities use the University of Melbourne web site, the problems they face, and what we can do to help. Preferred standards and techniques will be discussed, together with tools that can be used to evaluate websites.

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • better understand of the ways students and staff with disabilities use the Web;
  • identify barriers to access and identify solutions that would improve the situation;
  • gain an understanding of technical and educational resources available; and
  • understand the appropriate processes, techniques, and tools used to evaluate websites for accessibility

This course is offered free of charge to University of Melbourne Staff. Bookings can be made in Themis by clicking on 'UOM Staff Self Service' > 'Performance and Development' >  'Training and Development' and searching for 'accessibility'. Then click on 'Choose or Enroll in class'.
