Web development

Introduction to web development

When developing or redeveloping a university site, please consider the following points:

  1. Obtain approval for site development from your organisational unit manager
  2. Identify your site's goals, its audience and their needs
  3. Audit existing site content
  4. Write your content specifically for a web audience
  5. Develop and user-test your site information architecture
  6. Purchase a licensed copy of Dreamweaver MX or above
  7. Complete appropriate web training to help you address points 1 to 5 above, and learn how to use the new web templates
  8. Use the appropriate web publishing template
  9. Follow university web publishing policies and guidelines
  10. Conduct usability testing to ensure that your site is user-focused
