Introduction to archiving

The university is required by legislation to maintain accurate, reliable, authentic records of its web-based information and transactional activities.

Staff are accountable for information published on the university website. You may need to produce a record of when a change was made, or produce a copy of the webpage itself at a later stage, when it is no longer current.

The Web Archiving Strategy Project is developing a university policy on web archiving. This will be supported with procedures, standards and technical solutions to help staff maintain appropriate archives of university sites.
