Indigenous Affairs Advisory Committee
Background
The University established a number of programs and initiatives in recent years, relating to Indigenous matters, which are on-going in a wide variety of fields and locations.
The Council approved the establishment of this small committee to provide Council with advice on strategic Indigenous issues.
Terms of Reference
- To advise the University Council on matters relating to the University’s relationship with the Indigenous community both in Victoria and across Australia.
- To enable high level input into strategic decision-making
- To advise Council about opportunities to create awareness of contemporary Indigenous educational issues
- To advise Council on collaborative opportunities relating to Indigenous education including Indigenous affiliations
Membership
- A Chair appointed by Council from among its members
- The Director of the Melbourne Institute for Indigenous Partnerships
- Three other members appointed by Council and chosen for their expertise in and knowledge of Indigenous affairs
Meetings and reporting
The Committee is to determine its own meeting schedule but will be expected to report periodically and no less than once a year to Council on its activities.
