Committee of ConvocationRepresentation of graduates in the governance of the University of Melbourne commenced through a University Senate in 1867. A Standing Committee of Convocation replaced the Senate in 1923. In 1975 the Committee changed its name to the Committee of Graduates, only to re-adopt the name Committee of Convocation in 1986. The Commmittee of Convocation represents graduates of the University within the University and its members are elected in proportion to the number of graduates in each faculty. The Committee has a minimum of 40 members, and meets at least eight times a year. Division 3 of the Melbourne University Act 1958 outlines the powers and duties of the Committee of Convocation
