Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee
The Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee meets monthly, considers and determines-
- All recommendations from Professional Appointments Committees
- Recommendations from the Dean for honorary professorial, clinical professorial, visiting professor and professor emeritus appointments.
The Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee may require a Dean or nominee to attend to discuss the reasons for a recommendation.
Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee has 11 scheduled monthly meetings (February – December) and reports its decisions through the Provost to Council on a quarterly basis, attaching copies of citations tabled at the Academic Board. The Chair may exercise a right to have a Professorial Appointments Committee recommendation considered by circulation of papers between meetings. Additional meetings may be required to consider cases from the annual promotion to professor round.
Composition of the Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee
The membership of the Committee is:
- Chair –Provost or another Deputy Vice-Chancellor as nominee
- A Deputy Vice-Chancellor
- The President, Academic Board
- The Vice-President, Academic Board
- Four Professors nominated by the Provost and the President, Academic Board
A quorum will be at least three members.
The Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee may have an Equal Opportunity observer in attendance.
An Executive of the Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee will be formed so that where it is necessary to secure an appointment, cases can be approved out of round. The Executive will be the Provost or another Deputy Vice-Chancellor and President or Vice-President of the Academic Board. Any cases approved by the Executive will be reported to the Senior Appointments and Promotions Committee.
