| Horticulture | Marginson Prize Donor: Melbourne Parks and Waterways. Eligibility: Final Year students in one of the following courses: Bachelor of Applied Science (Horticulture), Bachelor of Applied Science (Horticulture) (Honours), Bachelor of Horticulture, Bachelor of Horticulture (Honours), Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Horticulture), Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Turfgrass Science and Management), Graduate Diploma in Horticulture. Selection Criteria: Based on marks in the year of the awarding of the Scholarship, and on demonstrated interest in park management or public open space issues. Selection will be by a committee comprising Dr R Marginson, the Chief Executive of Melbourne Parks and Waterways or nominee, and the Head of Burnley campus or nominee. Special Conditions: The committee may decline to award the Prize in any year. |

| Viticulture | Ian Watson Postgraduate Research Scholarship Donor: The Shelmerdine family (through Shelmerdine Vineyards Pty Ltd) and Mitchelton Wines Pty Ltd will each provide 25 per cent of the funds. The University will provide matching funding for the remaining 50 per cent. The Scholarship is named after Mr Ian Watson, a viticulturalist at Mitchelton for a generation, who left a legacy of viticultural innovation and intelligent use of information technology at Mitchelton and in the Goulburn Valley. Eligibility: Students admitted to enroll in a PhD at the Dookie campus of the Faculty of Land and Food Resources. The research focus of the PhD should be an aspect of viticulture of particular relevance to the Goulburn Valley and/or the particular passions of Mr Ian Watson, namely, (a) precision viticulture and/or yield estimation; (b) soil and water management for quality grape production; (c) physiology of grape and wine quality. Selection Criteria: Academic merit based on one or more previously completed tertiary qualifications. The scholarship will be awarded on the recommendation of the Head, School of Agriculture and Food Systems after consultation with the Shelmerdine family and MitcheltonWines. |
